Incoherent mumblings on a commute
It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine.
I don't care how the story of my goes on, I'll just sit brief and watch my life go by. Am I wasting my life away? No. I'll be the same old me, just being myself, doing the same things over and over again. At least for now. Fighting for my rights and beliefs if I can. But I sure as hell am not going to change who I am.
Forgot which philosopher said it, but life is crap because we're all forced to change ourselves to conform to the demands of society. I am me and I'm not going to struggle and change myself just for others.

In other news. Moral issues aside, I'm freaking incensed (pun, haha) at the tomb sweeping season. It's the time of the year when the chinese are supposed to head to the graves and columbariums and pay their respects. Unfortunately, i live near those places and whenever this reason starts, the whole road jams up from cars parked illegally by selfish devotees. Nice. In order to please the dead they irritate the hell outta the living.
And right now I'm blogging this taking a bus I had to wait for forever since taking the direct bus that goes through the jam is impossible in the first place. I'm peeved. I'm paying more for transport. My family is paying more taxes to pay for the police needed to control the crowds.
And the thing is, this tomb sweeping festival thing was only arbitrarily decided upon in historical times. If you go by those chinese history books. They simply decided that this time of the year had the best weather in China. (And if you live in Singapore you know that this obviously didn't hold true here.)
So why bother rushing for this if the original intention of the festival is lost? I don't know. Was musing about it over dinner, with my dad saying that it's all about tradition, and that people usually see the meaning of it when they near death. To which I replied that it only means one thing. That the cancer had spread to their brain. Well. Duh.
Tradition for the sake of tradition is simply retarded. First of all. This stupid tomb sweeping thing has lost its original intention. It's not fun. It harms others (all that lung-destroying smoke and if anything happens, the roads are too jammed for an ambulance to access). And it makes commuting painfully tough for me.
