Futures

The family physician me and my classmate was attached to was giving us a short informal talk about stuff, medical school, different fields of interest, our ambitions.

And as expected. The picture he painted isn't rosy. It's alot of hard work, long hours, office politics and, well, if one is into money, investment banking, law or anything else would have been more profitable.

He keeps long hours and barely has time for family or even himself. Or even lunch. He looks like he hasn't seen the light of day in weeks, and that's no surprise because he starts the day barely after the sun rises, and is cooped in his clinic until late into the night. I wonder if his family ever sees much of him.

I don't ever want to be like him. But what are the chances? It's a profession where one is forced to slog, to put down everything else, because.

Oh enough of musings tapped out on my phone while on my way to the clinc again.

It's almost 11pm and I've barely finished the schoolwork for today.

Not to mention I feel physically exhausted, with a throat too dry and a nose too wet, and a sick tingly feeling in my body. It's actually been a battle for a few days, since the sinus pain and all, but I think my immune system's starting to ebb and give up the ghost.

I just might take on the sick role pretty soon.

Oh, random food porn I didn't clear from my phone:

NUS Science Canteen chicken cutlet. Not bad for $2.20, but really, the quality fluctuates alot these days. Sadly they've reverted to the funny-tasty fries that I can't stand.

Blueberry cheese tart. Pardon the squished top!

If all else fails, I wonder whether you are able to skip work at your own clinic...
